As an independent Insurance Broker (an insurance intermediary) we provide advice, arrange and manage your insurance needs.
Who Regulates Us?
We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority for the purposes of arranging and managing insurances and arranging credit for these insurances. Our FCA Register Number is 306499. You can check this information on the FCA Register by telephoning 0800 111 6768 or visiting the FCA website at register.fca.org.uk
Whose Products do we Offer?
Our recommendations are selected from a range of policies provided by a number of insurers. You may ask us for a list of these insurers. In respect of self catering insurances cover is usually placed with Allianz, using our exclusive scheme. For musical instruments cover is usually placed with Allianz musical instruments. Holiday cancellation insurance is always underwritten by Allianz.
Uninsured loss recovery legal expenses insurance (unless as an integral part of the vehicle insurance) is an optional policy arranged via a single insurer, DAS Legal Expenses Insurance Company Limited, and is not available in isolation.
Information and Costs
Where applicable all premiums are inclusive of Insurance Premium Tax (certain exceptions apply) and Value Added Tax for engineering inspection services. You do not usually have to pay for our services. If we make a charge it will be clearly explained to you. If the insurance provider makes a charge this will charge will be passed on to you. Our earnings are paid to us at the time the premium is passed to the insurer.
We accept payment by cheque payable to J L Morris (Insurance Brokers) Limited and BACS (NatWest account number 52847004 and sort code 51 81 18). If paying from a non-UK bank account please add £7.00 to cover our bank's handling charge. The reference numbers for paying from a non-UK bank account are:
IBAN BIC NWBKGB2L
If you require an instalment facility the method of operation and the charges will be explained to you. If payment by credit card or debit card is provided by the insurer concerned we will take your details and pass these to the insurer. We do not retain your card details.
Handling Client Money and / or Insurer Money
Most premiums are held on a Risk Transfer basis. We will advise you when premiums are not held on a Risk Transfer basis. Your premiums are held, in accordance with FCA rules, in a Statutory Client Trust Account. Payment of the premiums is deemed to be your acceptance of these banking arrangements.
When we act as a sub-Broker in the arrangement and management of your insurances, we will pass the premiums to the next Broker who must also follow FCA accounting rules.
Some insurers will carry out a credit check so as to provide you with the most attractive premium and / or to assess your credit rating for premium payment. Unless you indicate to the contrary, we will use these credit checks at inception and each renewal. We do not see these credit checks.
Where we have placed your personal insurances with the same underwriter for four or more consecutive years we are obliged by the FCA to encourage you to "shop around". We do this for you as not all insurances provide the same cover. We will point out the differences in cover to you. Where your home insurances are placed with the same insurer as your business (because your home and business are on the same site) we would not be acting professionally if we recommended different insurers.
